Channing Chin
MD, FACS, FASMBS
Channing Y. Chin, MD, FACS, FASMBS is a board-certified surgeon who has specialized in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery for more than 15 years. He serves as Medical Director of the Bariatric & Specialty Surgery Center of Paramus and Director of Bariatric Surgery at St. Mary’s General Hospital. After a general surgery residency at New Jersey Medical School and a fellowship in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery in Newport Beach, California, he became an early adopter of outpatient sleeve gastrectomy and has presented his outcomes from more than 500 outpatient cases nationally. He also performs single-incision and revisional bariatric surgery, hernia repair, reflux surgery, and gallbladder removal. Dr. Chin’s care is built around the whole person – their goals, values, and circumstances, not a diagnosis – and around getting patients where they want to go in the fewest steps possible.
The Patient Experience
Dr. Chin takes a person-centered approach to bariatric and general surgery, focusing on each patient’s individual needs, preferences, strengths, values, and life context rather than defining them by a diagnosis. He offers bariatric, endoscopic, hernia, gallbladder, and anti-reflux procedures, including single-incision, robotic, and revisional surgery, as well as LINX® reflux surgery. His goal is to help patients achieve their personal health goals and experience not only the weight they lose, but also the life they gain.
From the first consultation through treatment and recovery, Dr. Chin provides personalized, goal-focused guidance while helping patients navigate care in as few steps as possible. Through Strive Surgical’s coordinated model, patients can access comprehensive support for obesity, reflux, hernia, and related conditions in one place. By treating patients as individuals rather than as a collection of diagnoses, Dr. Chin helps make the process more convenient, informed, and focused on the activities and quality of life that matter most to them.
