Kevin Small
MD
Kevin H. Small, MD is Director of Plastic Surgery for NYBG Plastic Surgery and one of the field’s leading voices on body contouring after massive weight loss – a subject he has published on extensively. Board-certified in plastic surgery, he performs the full range of post-bariatric procedures alongside breast augmentation, reduction, lift and reconstruction, facial aesthetic surgery, and minimally invasive treatments including injectables and laser. He completed his plastic surgery residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center and an aesthetic surgery fellowship at UT Southwestern, and served as an Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at Weill Cornell before joining the practice. Dr. Small is a known innovator in the field who treats body contouring as part of a patient’s larger health picture, not a standalone procedure, which is why his results tend to last.
A Fresh Approach
Dr. Small is one of the brightest stars of a new breed of plastic surgeons. He brings to the practice a capability to handle virtually any plastic surgery challenge, which he credits to hands-on experience with a broad array of advanced procedures that encompass the full potential of what plastic surgery can do to enhance and reconstruct the human body. With expertise in more than 35 major areas of plastic surgery and non-surgical cosmetic and corrective procedures, Dr. Small can deliver a combination of techniques that often minimizes recovery time while maximizing the improvements patients see in the tone, contours, and aesthetic balance of their problem areas.
This new approach doesn’t stop there, because plastic surgery isn’t just about treating appearances. Dr. Small recognizes that every patient has his or her own relationship to health, nutrition, fitness, and life, and each must be addressed so patients are educated and motivated to change unhealthy habits. As a result, patients’ weight remains stable and they carry new lifestyle practices into their life after surgery. This is a vital step to protect the longevity of results, and one often left out by less holistic practices.
Because of his broad-based skill, Dr. Small can apply multiple techniques to create a harmonious balance in the proportions and shapes of the body. The result is a strikingly natural look that enhances core beauty and fitness, one that shines from within.
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Small lives with his wife, Stephanie, and their three children, Lucas, Remy, and Cooper.
