Nikhilesh R. Sekhar
MD, FACS, FASMBS
Nikhilesh R. Sekhar, MD, FACS, FASMBS is a fellowship-trained bariatric and minimally invasive surgeon and Medical Director of the Bariatric and Specialty Surgery Center in Stamford. He trained in general surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital and completed a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he built a distinct expertise in reflux and esophageal disorders alongside his bariatric training. He was also among the first surgeons in the country to develop a robotic surgery program. Having performed thousands of bariatric procedures, he offers the full range of options: physician-supervised medical weight loss, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, SADI-S and duodenal switch, revisional surgery, and hernia and anti-reflux surgery. Most of these are same-day, with patients home within about two hours. Dr. Sekhar sees patients in Fairfield, Stamford, and Farmington, Connecticut, and explains every option in plain language so no one is funneled into a single operation.
